Abstract:
Fascioliasis is one of the most important parasitic diseases inruminants caused by Fhepatica in the main bile ducts and causes severeeconomic losses and death in many calves. Albendazole (Valbazenj” is one ofbenzimidazoles with outstandingpotency and broad spectrum of activity against liver fluke ,tape worms ,bothlung and gastrointestinal round worms infections. The present study was conducted to throw the light on the efficacy of albendazole against natural infection with fasciola in cattle with special reference to its side effects.Experimental desi2n:-Twenty four male and female Frezian cattle (12-18 months age) wereused in this study and they were grouped into three groups as follows: -1st group: six animals kept as control (non-infected) 2nd group: six animals (non-infected and treated)3th group: twelve animals (infected ~ith fasciola and treated)Albendazole was given at dose level of 10 mg / kg B.wt. in two doses45 days interval. Faecal and blood samples were collected from animals before albendazole and after 15,30 &45 days post I st and 2nd Faecal samples were examined for detection of fasciola egg count to oetect the efficacy of the drug.
