Enteric Helminth Parasites of Fresh Wather Fish Al Abbasa In Sharkia Governorate

Abstract:
The present investigation deals with the study of the enteric helminthparasites which infected four species of the most common Egyptianfreshwater fish; Clarias lazera. Oreochromis niloticus. Oreochromisaureus and Tilapia zillii collected from concrete and earthen fishponds ofCenteral Laboratory for Aquaculture Research at Abbasa, SharkiaGovernorate in the period extended from the beginning of Dec. 1997 till theend of Nov. 1998. Out of 596 examined fish; 338 (56.7 %) were infected with different types of helminthes. The infection rate was 85.7 % in Clarias lazera. 53.4% in Oreochromis niloticus. 31.3 % in Oreochromis aureus and 7.5 %in Tilapia zillii. The investigated parasites included two trematodes, two cestodes, two nematodes and one acanthocephala. In the present investigation, Clarias lazera was infected with trematodes (11.3 %) and comprised Orientocreadium batrachoides and AsOreochromis niloticus was infected with Acanthosentis tilapiae at apercentage of 53.4 %.
