Clinicopathological Studies on the Effect of an Antibiotic (nuflor) on Diseased domestic Rabbits

Abstract:
Fifty female white Newzealand rabbits were used in two experiments. The first experiment consist of 24 rabbits, 8 rabbits’ were kept as healthy control, 8 rabbits were injected at 3rd dayfrom the beginning of the experiment with 20 mg/kg of body weight of Nuflor (florfenicol) intramuscularly twice 48 hour apart (Group 2), others 8 rabbits were injected at 3rd day fromthe beginning of the experiment with 20 mg/kg of body weight of cidocetene (chloramphenicol) intramuscularly once daily for three successive days (Group 3). Second experiment included 26rabbits infected intranasally with pasteurella multocida strain,’type 5 :A, at day zero which is the day of beginning the experiment ten rabbits were remained as infected non treatedgroup (group 4), 8 rabbits were treated at 3 days post infectionwith 20 mg/kg of body weight ofNuflor intramuscularly twice 48 hour apart (Group 5), others 8 rabbits were treated at 3 days post infection with 20 mg/kg of body weight of chloramphenicol intramuscularly once daily for three successive days (Group 6).Blood and serum samples were collected at 2, 5, 15 and 21 days post treatment to study the haematological and biochemical changes respectively.
