Experimental Pathologic Studies On Flunixin Meglumine And Florfenicol In Albino Rats

One hundred and forty adult albino rats of both sexes (190-210 gm B. wt.) were used in this work to study thepathologic effect of FM and FLtherapy in different durations on the different organs beside the fetalabnormalities and male fertility. They were divided into 2 experiments eachof 4 groups (gps.). Experiment (1) was daily IIM injected with 0.33 mg/kg. B.wt. FM (gp. 1), day after day 3 mg/kg. B.wt. FL (gp. 2), both drugs (gp.3) and the control group (gp. 4). These rats were sacrificed 20 and 65 day post injection. Meanwhile, the 4 groups, each 10 pregnant female rats and IIM injected with 0.33 mg/kg.B.wt. FM (gp. 5), 3 mg/kg.B.wt. FL (gp.6), both drugs (gp.7) and thecontrol group (gp.8). The rats of this experiment were injected from 6th to15 day of gestation and were sacrificed on the zo” day of gestation.Stomach and intestine of gp. (1) showed eosinophils infiltration in all layers, hemorrhages, mucinous degeneration, severe desquamation, and hyperplasia of lymphoid follicles of intestine. The liver showed congestion, vacuolar and hyDROPic degeneration anpulmonary blood vessels, perivascular edema, focal replacement ofpulmonary alveoli by leukocytic infiltration, hyalinization of the pulmonary arterioles and extravasated erythrocytes in some alveoli were seen.
