Histopathologic studies of some Antineoplastic Drugs on albino Rats

Abstract:
Ninety female albino rats were divided into equal 6 groups to studythe pathologic lesions of cyclopohosphamide and methotrexate. The rats of(gps. 1 and 2) were received orally daily 0.9 mg.lkg.B.wt. and 3.6 mg./Kg.B. wt. of cyclophosphamide (ePA), respectively. The rats of (gps. 3 and 4) were received orally weekly 0.18 mg.lkg.B.wt and 0.45 mg./kg.B.wt. ofmethotrexate (MTX) , respectively. The rats of (gp. 5) were received 0.9mg.lkg.B.wt of cyclophosphamide and 0.18 mg.lkg.B.wt of methotrexate.The rats of (gp. 6) were kept as control. The recommended doses of eachdrug was dissolved in 2 ml saline and freshly administrated intragastric bythe use’ of stomach tube. Five rats from each group were sacrificed 30, 45and 60 days post administration (PA).The liver of rats received cyclophosphamide (gps. 1 and 2), revealed lesions of variable degrees and severity according to durations and doses. The lesions were congestion, hemorrhages, lymphocytic infiltrations and fibrous tissue proliferation in portal intestine showed erosion, hyperkeratosis in the non-glandular stomach, round cells infiltration in mucosa and lamina propria, mucinousdegeneration, desquamation of the epithelial lining and necrosis at the tips of villi. The spleen showed depletion of lymphocytes in the white pulps,
