Pathologic Studies on biologic interaction between schistosomiasis and larva migrans in mice

Abstract:
Two hundreds and twenty-five albino mice (21 day old and 25- 30 gm. B.wt.) were divided into six gps. (1-6) to study the ability of TVL to direct the defense mechanism of the body to resolve the problem of hepatic cirrhosis, caused by schistomiasis. Groupserved as experimental control where group (2) included 50 micewhich were inoculated subcutaneously with 40 SMC. Group (3) included 25 mice which were orally given 1,000 ETV by stomach tube and group (4) included 25 mice which were orally given 2 doses of1,000 ETV with 10 day interval. Groups (5 and 6) served as experimental animals where group (5) included 50 mice which were subcutaneously injected with 40 SMC, followed by 1,000 ETV per os with 60 day interval and (group (6) included 50 mice which wereinoculated subcutaneously with 40 SMC, followed by 2 doses of 1,000ETV on the so” and 70th days PI with bilharzial cercariae. Theschedule of sacrifice for group (1) was 3,7, 12, 17,22,30,45,60, 90,120 and 150 day while the mice of group (2) were sacrificed 60, 90and 120 day PI. The mice of groups (3 and 4) were sacrificed 7, 12,17, 22, 30 and 45 day PI or PC respectively. The mice of groups (5and 6) were sacrificed 30, 60 and 90 day PT. Specimens werecollected from the liver, small and large intestines, lungs, kidneys and
