Abstract:
65 diseased and dead animals (19 horses and 46 donkeys) of both sexes anddifferent ages were collected and examined for pathological lesions, necropsed or surgically treated (biopsies). They were obtained from El Zahraa Arabian horses studand Vet. Med. Zagazig and Cairo Universities during periods from 1990 to 1995.The animal were examined and gross lesions were recored~ Specimens from theaffected organs (lung, trachea, heart, stomach, intestine, kidneys, brain, lymph nodes,ovaries, anterior mesenteric artery, spleen, skeletal muscle and skin) were collected for pathological examination (fixed in 10% Buffer saline formalin). Bacteriological and parasitological examination were also done. For clinicopathological studiesblood samples of about 3 ml were drained from the jugular vein of the living animals which suffered from tumors, internal parasites and bacterial infections were collectedand serum was separated for biochemical studies.The results in the present study were classified into turnors, parasiticinfestation, bacterial mycotic infection and miscellaneous cases.33 cases were suffered from tumors, 15 cases were suffered from parasiticinfestation, 7 cases suffered from bacterial infection and 10 cases weremiscellaneous.Tumor cases (8 horses & 25 donkeys) were in different types of tumor could. be noticed. E pitheli (\ \. tumors (5 squamous cell carcinoma and one granulosa cell tumor) & connective tissue tumors (5 fibroma, 2 myxoma, 16 equine sarcoid, 2 melanoma and 1 amelanotic tumor).The parasitic infestation which collected (3 horses, 12 donkeys) wereGastrophilus intestinal is, Parascaris equorum, hydatid cyst, Fasciola gigantica, Strongylus vulgaris, Strongyloides westeri, Habronema megastoma, Dictyc7.;’1usarnifilei and mange. In case Gastrphilus intestinalis the lesions were gastritis and other pathological lesions in some organs. Habronema megastoma induce lesions in
