Abstract:
Summary:-Carbamate compounds have been utilized as pesticides for a long period of’time. They continue to be used as insecticides, fungicides and herbicides. While~they have been and continue to be extremely useful in agriculture pest control aswell as public health and urban application throughout the world, their extensivetse has led to numerous health risk effects on non target species, including humanbeing. Because of the potential environmental impact of pesticides and the largepopulation potentially exposed, the effects of chronic exposure to pesticides needto be determined. On the other hand schistosomiasis is highly endemic disease in Egypt.Schistosomaisis is primarily a rural disease, particularly affecting agriculturalcommunities, affecting at least 200 millions people and is responsible for 300 to500,000 deaths per year all over the world. Schistosomiasis causes severpathological changes in several body organs, especially the liver. Moreover, schistosomiasis may potentiate the development of some other diseases such asviral hepatitis and liver cirrhosis. The present study was carried out to study some toxicological aspects of larvin(thiodicarb, one of the widely used carbamate pesticides in Egypt) on normalnuce and on mice infested with different numbers of s.mansoni cercariae.
