Studies on immune status of sheep and goats concerning rift valley fever disease in Egypt

Abstract:
Seven male lambs 4-6 month old ossami breed. Fully susceptible for Rift valley fever virus have been used in these study. They have been divided into 2 groups. The first group included 5 animal and second contained two animalThe 1st group was vaccinated SIC with I.Oml of live attenuated vaccine. While 2nd group was left as contact control.Daily clinical observation with record of body temperature,respiration, and pulsation. Daily blood and serum samples were taken from vaccinated andnon vaccinated animal up to 7 days and then every week till the end ofthe experiment for isolation of Rift valley fever virus and applicationof some sero chemical tests (serum neutralization, haemaagglutinationinhibition, complement fixation, ELlSA, and agar gel precipitation tests), in addition to heamatological studies, (Hb volume, RBCs count, WBCs count as well as the alnine amino transferase enz. and Aspartate amino transferase enz).Daily ocular, nasal, rectal swabs were obtained up to the 8th day post-vaccination for virus isolation.Goat serum sample were collected from all Egypt Govemorates as a survay for the same live attenuated vaccine. They tested by two specific tests for diagnosis of Rift valley fever (SNT and HI).Result of these study showed the following:- Some symptoms as lserioius nasal discharge. Were observed in the vaccinated group.
