Some Studies on The Influence of pre and Postparturient Disorders on The Reproductive Performance in Dairy Cows

Abstract:
The present work was planned to monitor some periparturient reproductive disorders and its possible effects on postpartum reproductive performance of two Holstein-Friesian dairy farms underdifferent nutritional and managemental conditions. Moreover, evaluatingthe role of parity, season, body condition score, herd production level and DCAD as a risk factors for the periparturient reproductive disorders. In addition to analysis of some serum parameters which could have apossible etiological significance for some reproductive disorders.A total number of 329 Holstein-Friesian cows and heifers in twoprivate dairy farms (A and B) in Gharbia govemorate were used in thisinvestigation.All cases of abortion, stillbirth, vaginal prolapse, dystocia,twinning, milk fever, retained placenta, metritis, ovarian cysts, mastitis and claw affections, in addition to postpartum reproductive performance (uterine involution, first postpartum estrus, number of services per conception, open days and conception rarecorded.Body condition score (BCS) of the investigated animals wasevaluated during the dry period as well as after calving.Two blood samples were taken from each animals one at about 15 days before the expected date of parturition and the other at 7 days postpartum to determine serum total protein, albumin, globulin, calcium phosphorus, selenium, manganese and zinc levels.
