Abstract:
6.1. Effect of levamisole, ultracorn and oxytetracycline on the immuneresponse of brucella vaccinated and non vaccinated buffalo calves: In this investigation, seventy, 4 months old, female buffalo calves wereused. They were divided into 14 equal groups for studying the effect oflevamisole, ultracom and oxytetracycline on the immune response in brucella vaccinated and non vaccinated calves. In four groups, levamisole was injected intramuscularly in a dose of 5 mgIKg body weight, three days prevaccination or simultaneously with va200 mg/lOKg body weight 3 days before or one week post vaccination or onthe day of vaccination. The fourth group served as treated non vaccinatedgroup. The 13th. group was left as non treated non vaccinated control,whereas, the last group was kept as non treated vaccinated group. The effect oftested drugs on the immune response to brucella vaccine was evaluated bymeasuring the different parameters of cellular and humoral immune responses.(A) Non vaccinated groups:Intramuscular injection of levamisole or ultracom significantly increasedthe total leukocytic count, lymphocytes and monocytes.
