Abstract:
Kanamycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, has activity against a widerange of gram-negative micro-organsims and most strains of staphylococci. ItIS given parenterally for the treatment of systemic infections, as it isvery poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The aim of the present work was to investigate the pharmacokinetic aspects of kanamycin in normal and experimentally E. coli infected chickens to establish the most efficient therapeutic dosage regimenand kidney dysfunction in E. coli infected chickens. Following a single intramuscular injection of kanamycin (20 mg/kg) in normal chickens, a maximum serum concentration was recorded at one hour. The half-life of absorption (to.5(ab») valued with 0.244h. life (to.5(B)) was 2.65 hours.
