Experimental pathological studies on some molluscicides in Ducks

Abstract:
One hundred and twenty balady ducks of different sex (one to sixdays old of average body weight 50 gm) were used in this experiments.They were divided into two main groups (A and B). Group A were given bayluscide, group B were given copper sulphate. Each group wasdivided into 4 subgroups (each one contained 15 ducks). First, second andthird subgroup A were given baylascide 1,2 and 3 p.p.m. in drinking waterdaily respectively. The fourth group was kept as control. Five ducks fromeach subgroup were sacrificed 1, 2 and 3 months post administration ofbayluscide. First, second and third subgroup B were given copper sulphate20, 40 and 60 p.p.m. in drinking water daily respectively. The fourthsubgroup was kept as control. Five ducks from each subgroup B weresacrificed 1, 2 and 3 months post administration of copper sulphate.The clinical signs including loss of appetite and decrease in the bodyweight were seen in both bayluscide and copper sulphate groups. Themortality rate was 5% and 2% in ducks received bayluscide and coppersulphate respectively.Grossly bayluscide treated groups showed enlarged liver which wasfriable, pale and showed haemorrhagic spots in some ducks and wascongested in other ducks. The lungs were congested and dark red in colorin all experimental ducks. The kidneys were enlarged and pale in color insome ducks and showed focal haemorrhages and grayish patches in other ducks. The heart was flabby and showed haemorrhagic spots in someducks. The intestine, proventriculus and brain were normal in all the
