Abstract:
The present work was carried out to study the efficacy of streptomycin (100 mg/kg b.wt.), ceftiofur (1.6 mg/kg b.wt.) and their combination (Streptomycin 50 mg/kg b.wt. and ceftiofur 0.8 mg/kg b.wt.) against experimentally Ecoli, infected chickens. Anothestudy the side effects that could be reflected on liver and kidney functionsand the histopathological changes involving these vital organs.A- Efficacy of therapeutic regimen of streptomycin, ceftiofur andtheir combination in chickens experimentally infected with E.coli.Chickens experimentally infected with E coli, and non treated showed severe clinical signs (ruffled feathers, debility, diarrhea). Post mortem examination revealed hepatitis, nephritis and air sacculitis.Treatment with ceftiofur and combination of both drugs was highlyeffective than treatment with streptomycin in reducing clinical signs, gross pathological lesions and in preventing mortality.
