Abstract:
Lumpy skin disease (LSD) is considered a highly severe ~ctious viral skin disease which particularly affected cattle and used by one of the capripox viruses known as ”Neethling virus”at it is serologically identical with sheep and goat pox viruses.Also, the disease is considered one of the ”List A” diseases rich recorded in the Office International des Epizooties (OIE) in vris and it is exotic for the first time in Egypt on May, 1988. Duethe large economic losses caused by this disease as losses in eat and milk production, damaged hides, abortion, infertility as ill as costs of control either by vaccination of animals or using the secticides for vectors, the current study was carried out cl buffaloes to clear some important aspects of the disease. This study was done in the period from January , 1997 until. .cember , 1999 on a total number of 661 animals included 464 ws (96 native breed cows, 126 cross breed cows and 242 foreign eed cows)’e Egyptian Governorates, two in Upper Egypt (El-Minia and -Fayoum ) and three in Lower Egypt (El-Sharkia , El-Dakahlia.d El- Ismailia ) .le results of this study revealed that: Concerning the epizootiological investigationIt was found that the LSD affected 92 cows in Minia, Fayoum td Dakahlia Governorates, and 19 buffaloes in Sharkia and akahlia Governorates, while in Ismailia Governorate ,no clinicalses of LSD were recorded .The common epizootiological pattern that observed among fected cows and buffaloes were : The high incidence of the disease was in summer season where it.
