Abstract:
One hundred and twenty five random samples (25 farm bulkmilk and 25 each of teat swab, milker’s hand, dairy equipmentand bedding materials) the samples were collected fromdifferent dairy farms in Sharkia Governorate. This study wasplanned to investigate the total bacterial count, coliform count(MPN/nl1.), isolation and identification of coliforms,Enterococci count, staphylococci count and suggestive methodsfor improving milk quality. The obtained results revealed that.1) Total Colony Count:The obtained results revealed that the mean total bacterialcount/ml. of bulk milk samples, teat swab, milker’s hand, dairyequipment and bedding material were 5.30 x 107, 2.54 x 101°,7.63 X 109 ,2.82 X 1010 and 7.38 x 1013 respectively.2) Coliform CountAll milk samples proved to be contaminated with coliformsusing (MPN/ml.) 2.9 x 104 to 1.1 X 108, with a mean 1.6 x 106.Teat swab with a mean 1.01 x 108 , milker’s hand with a mean2.4 x 107, dairy equipment with a mean 6.1 x 107 and beddingmaterial with a mean 2.01 x 109.3) Isolation and Identification of Isolated Coliforms
