Observ Ations on Some External and Internal Parasitic Diseases in Nile Catfishes

Abstract:
In this study, a total No. of 226 catfish (144 Clarias lazeraand 82 Synodontis schaU) were examined for studying the mainexternal and internal parasitic diseases affecting catfishes, theirprevalence, their relation to different seasons, localities and typesof fish, their clinical signs, P.M. lesions, histopathological effectand some haematological changes. Beside trials of treatment tosome parasitic diseases of them were carried out.The present study revealed that 135 out of 226 examinedfishes were infected with a rate of 59.73%.130 Clarias lazera out of the 144 examined fishes wereinfected with a rate of90.27%.5 Synodontis schall only was infected out of the 82 examinedfishes with a rate of 6.09%.External infestation were 45.83 and 1.21 % while internalinfection were 82.72 and 4.87% in Clarias lazera and Synodontisschall respectively.External parasitic diseases in Clarias lazera were by:Trichodiniasis, and disease caused by monogenetic Trematode(Cichlidogyrus and Gyrodactylus) while in Synodontis schallwere by: disease caused by monogenetic trematode only(Gyrodactylus).Internal parasitic diseases in Clarias lazera were by:Henneguyati disease (H. psorospermica and H. lobosai, diseasecaused by adult trematode (Orientocreadium), disease caused bytrematode metacercaria (Prohemistomatid), disease caused by
