Pathologic Studies on Some Immunosppressions in Laboratory Animal

Abstract:
This study was aimed to evaluate pathological lesions associatedwith uses of immunosuppressive drugs ..One hundred and forty adult albino rats (200 gm body weight) of both sexes were divided into 7 groups, each containing 2 parts (8 female and 12 male). Each rat in groups 1 and 2 was dailyadministered per os cyclosporine A by doses 20 and 1.25 mg/kg B.wt.for 2 months. Each rats in group 3 and 4 was daily administered per osazathioprine by doses of25 and 12.5 mg/kg B.wt. Each rat in group 5and 6 was daily administered per os cyclosporine A with azathioprineby doses 20 + 25 mg/kg B.wt. and 1.25 + 12.5 mg/kg B.wt. Each rat ingroup 7 daily administered per os olive oil (vehicle) as control. The clinical signs seen among all experimental groups (1-6) included tremors, diarrhea, sunken eyes and alopecia beside development of cutaneous eruptions. Grossly, all viscera appeared conheart, kidneys and liver. Lungs had pneumonic areas which appearedgrayish in colour and firm. Intestine and stomach showed waterycontents mixed with mucus. Brain had congested and edematousmeninges with softening of brain tissue. Testes appeared atrophied.Spleen, thymus and lymph nodes were shrunken and firmer in consistency.Microscopically, cyclosporine A· showed Nephrotoxicity
