Some studies on brucellosis in sheep and goats in dumyat governorate

Abstract:
In this work, blood serum samples were collected from 8491 sheepand 2143 goats through the American Project 416B of test and slaughter inDumyat Govemorate (1994-1996) the sera were subjected to serologicaltests including SAT, BAPAT, RBPT, Riv. T and CFT. The obtained resultsrevealed that the prevalence of brucellosis by these tests was 2.52%, 2.7%,2.42%, 2.06% and 2.61 % respectively in sheep; whereas it was 5.6%, 7.09%., 6.21 %7 5.55% and 6.86% by the same tests respectively in goatsThe prevalence of brucellosis was higher in field animals than in farmanimals. The percentage of Brucella infection in Kafr Saad Center washigher than the other centers in Dumyat Governorate. Bacteriological examination of 24 milk samples, 63 lymph nodes, 9 aborted foeti and 7 placentae collected from serologically positive sheep and after slaughering revealed isolation of 19 Brucella strain
