Abstract:
One hundred random raw ewe’s milk samples collected from different localities in Sharkia Govemorate, to be examined microbiologically. The mean total colony countlml was 6. 8x 104 ± I. 8x 104 .Coliform organisms were present in 30% of examined san pleswith a mean value of 2.6x104 (MPN ml), Escherichia coli,Enterobacter agglomerans, Citrobacter freundii, Klebsiellapneumoniae and Klebsiella oxytoca could be isolated from examinedsamples in varying percentage ranging from 2.2% to 15.2%.Serological typing of isolated E. coli revealed identification ofserotypes 055:K59:B5, 086:K61 :B7, 0111 :K58:B4, 0124:K 72:BI7,012s:K70:B15, 01 14:K90:B, 012TK63:B8 and 0119:K(j9:B14.The mean total enterococci count/ml was 1.2x 103.Streptococcus faecalis proved to be the most prevalent type ofenetrococci detected in (9.7% of samples), while Strept. faeciumcould be found in 5.4% of samples. The differential count wasrecorded.
