Abstract:
This study was conducted as a good supplement to thehighly promising forthcoming application of both apramycinand cefoperazone in veterinary practice. The investiga- tion aimed at throwing the light on the possible, if any; side effects of these drugs that could be reflected as haematological and histopatholOgical changes and/or the liver and kidney dysfunction.After the last intramuscular administration of the therapeutic and double doses of apramycin; 20 and 40 mg.kg b.wt. given once daily for 5 successive days, the periphe-ral blood picture showed a significant decrease in the RBCs count and Hb concentration that appeared after one and two weeks respectively and lasted throughout the experiment. Meanwhile, the ~lCV decreased significantly ~~~er 1st hour through the 3rd weekMCH after one week. The biochemical results revealed a significantincrease of the SGOT level after one hour and lasted to 2nd week. whereas, the creatinine level increased significantly after l~ hour and lastedthroughout the experiment. However, the alkaline phosphat- a s e , the indirec t and total bilirubin and cholesterol displayed
