Effect of Some Antischistosomal Drugs on The Liver Function In Normal and Schistosomal Infected Mice

Abstract:
Bilharziasis chemotherapy is one of essential methods for controling the disease beside healthy education and snail control. In this investigation, three drugs were used, praziquantel, anthiomaline and fasinex which used inthis field for the first time.The obtained results denoting that p r az i.q ua n t e I was the best antischistosomal drug. It was reduced the worm load by 97.65% and 99.73% at one and four weeks post-treatment. It was improved the liver function andits enzymatic behavior and had no distructive or injurous effect on normal liver tissue and improvedthat one infected with Schistosoma mansoni. Anthiomaline, the antimony compound, reduced the worm load by 81.86% and 96.27% at one and four’ weeks post treatment. It had a slight distructive effect on the liver function and its enzymatic behavior in both ation of S.GOT and S.GPT, lowering the albumin fraction of protein and increase the total bilirubin and its.fractions).
