Abstract:
PGF2a and PGE2 are members of neumerous preparations of prostaglandins. Many literature, were published on the chemistry, physiology and some clinical uses of PGs, but it failed to give a full clinicopathological picture on the exogenous administration ofPGE 2 with or without ovarian hormones for long period. One hundred and twenty female albino rats were divided into three mam groups each of forty rats. Each main group was divided into foursubgroups. The first bYfOUP was left as control. The second group wasinjected for 30 days with 100 ug/kg B.wt. PGF2a. The third group wasinjected daily with 100 u/kg B.wt. PGE2. Subgroups 2,3 and 4 in the threemam groups were injected with 0.05 mg!kg B.wt. estrogen, 1 mg/kg B.wt.protesterone or 0.066 +1 mg !kg B.wt. estrogen-progesterone mixture, respectively. Sampling by slaughtering of 5 rats from each subgroup every 15 days one hour after the last injection. The erythrone mass was alleviated from normocytic normochromic anaemias, in rats received ovarian hormones, into an increase in erythrocytic count and haemoglobin concentration after injections ofPGF2a or PGE2 .Also iron level in serum was raised.
