Studies on some ectoparsites of camels

Abstract:
The present study was dealing with 2 parts, the first wasidentification of common ectoparasites infesting Arabian camels in Egyptduring the period from May 1994 to April 1995. The second part was atrial for production and evaluation of soluble extract antigen and vaccinefrom camelian tick Hyalomma dromedarii.The investigated animals were 480 Arabian camels from Benha&Belbis markets and Benlra abattoir. The identified arthropods wereIxodid ticks, parasitic mites, blood sucking flies and myaisis producingflies.The obtained results revealed that 80 % of investigated camels wereinfested with ticks and the predeminent was Hyalomma species (96.9%).While Amblyomma (2.770/0) ,Rhipicephalus (0.33%) and Boophilus(0.060/0) were identified in lower percentage.The identified species of ticks were Hyalomma dromedarii(37.130/0), Hyalomma anatalicum (17.7%), Hyalomma.excavatum(10.52%), Hyalomma marganatum (3.25%), Hyalomma.rufipes (5.54%),Hyalomma.schulzei (1.73%), Hyalomma. truncatum (0.93%), Amblyommalepidum (2.770/0), Rhipicephalus sanguineous (0.33% and Boophilusannulatus 0.06%.Dealing with ’Seasonal dynamics of ticks infesting Arabian camels,results showed that the lergest number of ticks was collected in Spring andSummer with tick burden (12.29, 11.58 male ticks/ animal respectively),while the lowest number was collected in Autumn.Also the highest number
