Some studies on liver and kidney troubles in late stages of pregnancy in buffaloes

Abstract:
This investigation was conducted on buffaloe-heifers. The domesticbuffaloes have been used in Egypt as work animals and producers of milkand meat. The buffaloe-cow or the Gamoose without doubt is the milkinganimal in Egypt, and if properly fed and carefully selected, it might yieldmore milk than any other breed in the world, as milk may contain more than7 % fat.The detailed studies were carried out to evaluate the liver and kidneyfunctions in late stages of pregnancy (the 8th, 9th and the io” month) inpregnant buffalo-heifers. Forty five buffaloe-heifers (15 non-pregnant and30 pregnant ones of about 2.5 to 3 years old)) were used in this study which managed at EL-Khattara project farm, Sharkia Governorate. All animalswere examined clinically and laboratory to ensure that it is clinically normal, free from external and internal parasites or blood parasites.Bleed samples were collected from the pregnant buffaloe-heifers iilthe 8th ,9th and the io” months of pregnancy and from the non pregnantheifers at the same time. The sera were analyzed for measuring the levels ofinorganic phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, ALP, AST, AL T, total proteins and its fractions, urea and creatinine. Our results revealed that :-1- Serum inorganic phosphorus:There were no any significant differences in the mean values betweenpregnant and non pregnant heifers.
