Abstract:
458 camels were examined for salmonellosis • lThe first group , the mesenteric lymph nodes and int-estinal contents of 205 apparently healthy camels , slaughtered at Belbis abattoir were examined forsalmonella.24 camels were fomd to be infected • The incidence o r infection was 11.7%. A total of 32salmonella isolates were recovered and were serologi- cally typed as ~. newlands(10), .s. anatum (8) ,~. typhimuri.um (4), ’1fshingwe (3), .s. sandiago (3) ~. rnuenchen and~. thompson, each 2 isolatesIn the second group, one-hundred, apparently healthy camels were examined for the presence of salm-onella by rectal swabs, out of which 3 camels were in- fected and the incidence was 3%. Three isolates wererecovered : one strain • 2 strains of muenchen and .thompson,The third group, 153 camels suffering from dia-rrhoea were exam; ne d for salmonella by, rectal swa bs ,ou t of which 26 ca ae Ls were found to be infected ”::i.fld the Lnc Lde nce was 17%.
