Abstract:
The epidemiology of the so called Oedematous skin disease was studied. 120 animals out of which 8 cawsand the remanining were buffaloes , during 1982 and 1983 in some provinces at lower Egypt were intensivelyinvestigated clinically, bacteriologically and parasi-tologically ( for microfilaria ). The high incidence ofthe disease in summer monthes and affecting mainly buf-faloes • On the clinical side the present study showed thatthe disease have two forms. Suppurative form c~used mai-nly by C. ovis and characterised by Suppuration of oneor more of the superficial lymph nodes and/or t~ relatedlYmphatics • The second Don suppurative oedematous form main17 caused by filaria species and characterised bygeneral painless oedema in the·four limbs, intracutaneousfirm nodules and / or ulceration in the skin which bled and had no tenqenoy to heal without any signs of pusformation • C.ovis was ”isolated from 70 cases out of 120 inpure culure. ovis assoniated with staphylococci in 6 cases, with streptooocci in 4 cases and with E.coli
