Abstract:
Fifty Newzeland rabbits.j kg.B.Wt.and 5 months old,were equally divided intoten groups (gps.1-10) to study the biological interaction between sarcoptic mange and each of the dichlorvos and ivomec.Gp (1) was thecontroI.Gps.(2,3,4,5 and 6) were the experimental control and gps ( 7,8,9 and 10) were the experimental animals. Gp (2) was infected with Sarcoptes scabiei. Gps.( 3 and 4 ) were subcutaneously injected with dichlorvos (15 mg and 25 mg/kg.body weight respeweight respectively) with 3 day intervals .Gps ( 7,8,9 and 10) were first infected with Sarcoptes scabieiand left for 15 days till the appearance of the skin lesions. Such lesions were recognized on the ears,snout and nail sheathes thengps. ( 7 and 8) were subcutanetausly injected with dichlorvos at the same dose and in the same manner as gps. ( 3 and 4) . Gps ( 9 and 10) weresubcutaneously injected with ivomec at the same dose and in the same manneras gps. (5 and 6 ). The clinical signs were recorded and the animals weresacrificed 3 days after the last dose. The animals were necropsied. Specimenswere collected from the skin, spleen, liver, kidneys, suprarenal glands, ovaries ,uterus I testes I brain,stomach,vermiform process; myocardium and the subcutaneous interscapular gland. The specimens were immediately fixed in formalin I then five micron thematoxylin and eosin I then examined microscopically.(
