Abstract:
Streptococcal microorganisms cause infection in a wide range ofanimals but it is of special interest in horses as it is a cause of manyinfectious diseases. Strangles is one of them and it is of economicimportance to the solids due to its prolonged course, extended recoveryperiod and associated with serious complications. The streptococcalmicroorganisms also considered as the main cause of suppurativepolyarthritis, wound infection and genital disorders in mares and. stallions.In this work bacteriological studies were done on the streptococcal microorganisms isolated from equines to investigate the prevalence rate of streptococci in both apparently healthy and diseased horses and foals bred in different farms.
