Abstract:
A total number of 160 Egyptian Balady sheep, 3-5 years ageof both sexes were included in this study. The study run into two parts:First part, {field study): included 100 animals, that were sub-divided into 2 groups: 1~ group proved to be clinically healthyby both clinical and laboratory methods of examination and servedas control. The 2nd group was admitted to the veterinary clinicsin-Assiut and suffered from ruminal dysfunction. Second part, (experimental study): including 60 animals belongedto the clinic of Vet Med. Dept. Animals were given different types of rations in an abnormal amounts to induce experimental impaction while healthy animals were kept as a control.Samples of blood sera were collected from all field and ex-perimental animals to estimate total protein (gm%), albumin(gm%), globulin (gm%), albumin/globulin ratio, electrophoresis(%) calcium (mg%), inorganic phosphorus (mg%)_, magnesium (mg%),sodium (mmol/L), potassium (mmol/L) and chloride (mmol/L).Ruminal juice samples were collected from each animal tostudy the physical properties of the juice including color, odourand consistency, microscopic examination of protozoa, detectionof hydrogen ions concentration and biochemical analysis of totalprotein (gm%), alhumin (gm%), globulin (gm%), albumin/globulinratio, calcium (mg%), inorganic phosphorus (~g%), magnesium(m9%), sodium (mmol/l), potassium (mmol/l) and chloride (mmol/l).
