Some Studies On Cryptosoridia ”Coccidia” of Chickens

Abstract:
The present task was carried out to clear the prevalence forcryptosporidiosis in chickens in Dakahlia province during a periodextended from December 1988 to the end of November 19890 By examination of 718 chickens, only 22 were infected (3.06%) by direct faecal examination and 65 (9.05%} by using concentration technique. Regarding the seasonal prevalence of the cryptosporidiosisfollowed by spring 00.29%) and autumn (9,63%) while the low prevalence was noticed in winter season (3.40%).Six staining methods were used for detection of cryptosporidiaioocysts,Safranin, dimethylsulphoxide, modified ziehl-neelsen tecr.ruque, Giernsa stain, methylene blue, eosion stain and toluidine blue/gentian violet stain. The high accuracy of ~,:,:ining techniques was obtained w..hsafranin (9.05%), Lastly the experimental infection of chickens, pigeons, rat and mice by 500,000 oocysts of cryptosporidium (oral inoculation), Only chickensand pigeons were infected and the prepatent period and patent periodwere 4 and 28 days in chickens and 9, 18 days in pigeons ..
