Abstract:
Two hundered and thirteen animals (118 buffaloes and 95 buffalo- calves) were examined for skin lesions during the period from 1985 to 1988 in Sharkia governorate. The age of the affected animals ranged from 2 months to 10• years.The animals were examined clinically and the gross lesions were recorded. The incidence of each skin disease was listed. Specimens from the affected skin were subjected to histopathological examination and skin scrapings were done for theectoparasite deteThe incidence and distribution of the skin affections varied according to age and sex of the the affected buffaloes. Alopecia was described in 5 adult buffaloes and 38 buffalo-calves (20.66%) of the affected animals and was considered the most frequent skpigmented skin areas. Vesicular dermatitis was detected in 8 adult buffaloes and 2 buffalo-calves (4.7%). The lesions were usually seen on the mouth and feet of the affected animals.
