Abstract:
Camel is still one of the important ,livestock farming animals in many countries Literatures on viraldiseases of camels are scanty and sparse. This work aimed to gave .more informations about the role ofcamels in some viral epizootics through two parts; 1- Serosurvilancestudy the immune status of camelsagainst some viral diseases viz (FMD,R P and A H S) by serological studies on camel sera samples.2- Experimental work: study the susceptibility ofcamels to infection with FMDV strain ~/3/87 Egypt,and its role in desseminating the disease to contactanimals (three calves and one camel). Moreoverthe ability of camel s to aquire FMDV from experimentallyinfected calves with FMDV strain 01/3/87 Egypt. Serological investigations on 536 camel serasamples (275 local breed and 261 imported breed) revealed that the following results: A) FMDV Antibodies :Serum neutralization test showed that 21 outof 536 (3.91%) were positive, 2 out of 275 the localbreed (0.73%) and 19 out of 261 the imported breed
