Abstract:
This study was performed in Department of Physiology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Zagazig University. Genetically, uniform, mature male and female Nile catfish C. lazera, weighing about 400-500 gmJindividual were used and obtained from the Zagazig fisThe fish were put in rectangular glass aquaria of 250 Iiter capacity/aquarium. The aquaria were kept in the natural laboratory environment and supplied with dechlorinated tap water which stocked in large plastic tanks 24 hours before using for evaporationaquarium was supplied with two air pumps allover the period of adaptationand experimentation, where, aeration was very necessary to provideoxygen not less than 4 mg/liter. The water temperature was 23±3 QC andpH was kept at 7-8. Feeding of fish was performed at ratio of 3% of fishbody weight once daily from time of the arrival until the end of theexperimental period, except 24 hours before collection of samples tominimize the effects of nutrition on circulating blood metabolic parametersand oxygen. The food was a balanced 32% protein commercial ration
