Some Stoudies on Intestinal Disturbances in Equines

Abstract:
A total number of 11 9 horse aging from six months to eight years oldand of both sexes were examinedin this study, where 93 of which showedsymptoms of intestinal disturbances while the rest of the horses wereclinically healthy and served as control. The diseased horses (93) which suffered from these disturbanceswere divided into four gruops according to the causitive agent involved ininduction of these alterations, these groups were:15 horses suffered from dietetic diarrhoea.46 horses suffered from parasitic diarrhoea 18 horses suffered from impaction of large intestine and 14 horses suffered from obstructive colic in a percentages of 16.13%,49.46%, 19.35% and 15.05%, respectively.Clinically, various degrees of dehydration was observed in horses aswell as polyponea and tachycardia were observed in all diarrhoeic horses.Emaciation, general weakness, rough coat with hairless parts and pale oricteric mucous embrane were the predominent clinical fmdings observed in cases with parasitic diarrhoea. Moderate abdominal pain, constipation with absence of intestinal sounds were the most prominent signs of impaction of large intestine. While acute abdtachycardia and polyponea with absence of faeces in the rectum were themost distinctive clinical signs in cases of obstructive colic.
