Abstract:
Furazolidone residues in raw and boiled eggs were investigated after administration of prophylactic dose(20 mg/kg b.w./day for 10 successive days) and therapeutic dose (35 mg/kg b.w. / day for 7 successive days) to laying hens, then the period of the drug clearance in the laid eggs after the last dose, was estimated. Also the effect of furazolidone residuesThe concentration of furazolidone residue In raw eggs, of the prophylactic group was zero in the first day of dosing. In the 2nd day of dosing, the concentration was0.12 (g/gm albumin and 0.09 ug/gm yolk and increased gradua11y till hepea kat the 10 thday 0fdrug administ -ration (0.41 ~g/gm albumin and 0.39 ~g/gm yolk). After the last dosage, this level was high for one day then declined gradually till reached to zero after 6 days in the egg albumin and 7 days in the egg yolk.Furazolidone residues in boiled eggs were lower than that of raw eggs (about 0.03-0.09 ug/gm).As for the therapeutic group, the concentration of residual furazolidone in raw eggs was zero In the firstday of dosing. In the second day of dosing, the concenlration
