Abstract:
Summary:-This study deals with two of the widely used tanqui-lizers not only in animals but also ref1’erred to in human being.One hundred and fourty rats used in this investiga-which classified into sev~n groups (each of 20 rats).first, second and the third groups are used for studyingtoxicological effect of chlorpromazine hydrochloride(Neurazine) while the fourth, fifth and the sixth groupsused for studying the toxicological effects of propio-promazine (Combelen) and the seventh group served ascontrol. Each group of each drug received 1/5, 1/10 and1/20 of LD50 doses twice daily for 5, 10 and 20 doses res-pectively. The rats received chlorpromazine hydrochloride(Neurazine) intravenously in the tail vein while propionylpromazine (Combelen) was givea urally by the stomach tube •.24 hours’ atter- the last dose of e ach group twoblood samples were taken for hematological studies andbiochemical tests, then the rats were slaught ered and theinternal organs were preserved in formalin solution 10 %the histopathological studies.Blood pictur’e of treated rats showed that haemoglobinpercentage; RBCs count and the total leucocytic count areless t han i ’the control while the differential leucocyticCOllnt (Eosinophiles, monocytes) was more than norma.l.
