Abstract:
The present work was carried out with the yiew of studying the extrahepatic part of the portal vein in the camel as a preliminary investigation of the portal circulation in that animal.Twenty full term foeti and 10 adult camels were used in this study. The specimens were injected withlatex coloured with ultramari~blue through the portal vein and its tributaries after ”TOMPSETT and WAKELEYtechnique (1956)}.A full description of the extrahepatic part of the portal vein is given with reference to the same in Qther domestio animals. The present findings indicate that the radicles of the portal vein of the one-humped camel xesemble in gen~al those of other ruminants except for some differences related to the special morphology and dispas1tion ofthe stomach and intestine of the camel.
