Abstract:
Summary:-592 male Swiss albino mice weighing from 20-22 gm. were used forexperimentation. Irradiation was performed by exposing the total body togamma radiation in a dose of 8 Gy from gamma cell 40 (Caesium 137).The animals were classified into 8 groups each comprise 74 mice. The first group (Negative control). This group received only 0.5ml./mice saline solution lIP.The second group (irradiated group). This group was subjected tototal body gamma rays exposure at a dose of 800 rads (8 Gy).The third group (Thola positive control). This group injected lIP withThiola sol. at a dose of 100 mg/kg B.W.The fourth group (irradiated, Thiola protected). This group injectedlIP with 100 mg/kg B.W. Thiola, fifteen to thirty minutes post injection theanimals were irradiated with 8 Gy.The fifth group (olive oil positive control). this group treated witholive oil at a dose of 1 rnl/mice lIP.The sixth group (olive oil protected irradiated). this group irradiatedwith 8 Gy gamma rays, after 15 minutes post irradiation animals injectedlIP with 1 ml/mice olive oil.Seventh group (olive oil, Thiola positive control). This group injectedlIP with 100 mg/kg B.W. Thiola and 1 ml/mice olive oil.Eighth group (Thiola, olive oil protected and irradiated). This groupinjected lIP with 100 mg/kg B.W. Thiola. After 15 minutes post injectionanimals were irradiated with 8 Gy gamma rays. Fifteen minutes postpitvrosporum canis 15.63%).3 Rhodotorula species (9.3H%). 2 Candidapnrapn sill osis (6.259h), I I Penicillium species (34.38%), 3 Aspergillus1/ niger (9.38%) 2.Aspergillus flavus tu S(3.12(k). 2 Mucor species (6.25%), I Aspergillus funigatus ( 3.12%) 2. Mucor species ( 6.25%) I Rhizopus species (3.13%),cladosporium species ,(3.13%) and I Alternaria species (3.13%).The higher incidence of such fungal ear infection was attributed to themisuse of or long duration of the antibiotics therapy and/or other favourablecouditions.
