Abstract:
The investigation aimed to throw light on the role playedby immunosuppressive viruses in altering some biochemicaland haematological parameters with correlation to zinc supplementation.lBDV produced a decreasing effect on serum total protein at second and third weeks post-vaccination, while serumtotal protein was found to be increased at last two weeks of experiment in both groups vaccinated with NDV andlBDV.Electrophoretic investigation of serum samples showed adecrease in albumin with subsequent decrease in albumin/globulin ratio, and increase in globulin content in groups vaccinated with NDV, lBDV at first week post-vaccination. Alpha-I, beta and gamma fractions were increased while alpha-2 was decreased in both vaccinatedgroups. A gradual increase in albumin toward the normal values take place begining the second week up to the endof the experiment. An extensive and significant decrease of zinc content of thymus gland cells (thymocytes) was observed in groupvaccinated with IBDV.The decrease was started first weekpost-vaccination and up to the end of the experiment.
