Abstract:
The present work was planned to study some biochemical alterations in the blood, tissues as well as histopathological changes in mice infected with S. mansoni before and after oviposition. • For performing the present work, 80 Swiss albino mice one month their stool for 7 successive days, were used. They were kept under hygienicconditions and fed on both barly and milk ad libitum all over theexperiment to avoid any possible effect of malnutrition. The mice infectedby subcutaneous injection with 60 S. mansoni cercariae for each mouse. The blood samples were collected from each mouse in each group after sacrificing in a clean dry tube containing heparin as anticoagulant. The whole blood samples were served for measuring GSH, SOD, Hb and G6PDH. The remaining of each blood sample from each mouse in each group were centrifuged at 3000 rpm for 15 minutes. The obtained non- hemolyzed plasma were used for measuring plasma iron ceruloplasmin . Tissue samples (livers) used as following: 1- Small pieces of liver from each mouse of each infected group were taken for histopathological study and fixed in 10% formaline (5 usections were made and stained with H & E.).
