Abstract:
This study has been de~igned to study thecriteria of abomasal nematodes, during a full year period, in our native breeds of cattle and buffaloes and their pathological effect on the infested animals.A 272 male animals of 9-18 months-old (222 of cattle and of buffaloes) , fromexamined as 4 cattle 50 Cairo’s Greatand 1 abbattoirs,buffaloe wereevery week, all were clinically healthyAddi tional 59 male cattle, of 9-18 months old, were used for the achievement of gastrin study. A 25 animals ( 15 of cattle and la of buffaloes ) of the same sex andage were used as controls. Additional 18 cattle were used as controls for gastrin study.The blood and faecal samples were collected from each animal before slaughtering , also abomasal samples with their contents were collected from each animal after slaughtering.Sample~ were subjected to parasitological, haematological ,biochemical and histopathological examination. The prevalenceand intensity of infestation, the complete blood picture, profiles of serum iron, serum proteins, serum gastrin, gastric acidity and the abomasal histopathological changes were studied.The result~ revealed that the abomasal nematodes were found in both cattle and buffaloes, but were more highlyprevalent and intensive in cattle than in buffaloes.
