Abstract:
Dibetes mellitus is a disease of abnormal carbohydrate metabolism mainly due to insulin insufficiency relative to requirements. The disease is characterized by hyperglycaemia, secondary disturbances in lipid and protein metabolism leading to acidosis and incident to glucosuria, ketosis and loss of amount of Nat and Kt ions are also of the features of the disease. In advanced stages, diabetic coma, decrease in the plasma volume, shock as well as rena 1 fa i 1 ure deve 1 op .In the present work we chosed oral hypoqlycae~ic drug(Tolbutamide) and two plants <.s.g.llx .b.ab.Y_lQ.n.i.~g L. andCsl.n.t.ay,:::.e.Q .c.a.l..c .. i ... t.:::.a.P..a L.) a sat est e d p 1 ant s . Available literatures failed to give biochemical and histopathological picture hypoglycaemic effect or the side effect of and Tolbutamide.full clinico- abou t eitherthe two plants Accordingly, the present work was done to clarify the~ole picture and to correlate the clinico-patholoqical results with that of the histopathological results.Three hunderds and fourty albino rats were used in experiments.
