Effect of Some Poisonous Plants on The Liver Function Tests In Lab. Animals

Abstract:
The experiment was carried out on 108 clinically health albino rats, of both sexs, 2-) months old, and 100-200 gm weight, the animals were devided into two groups. Group I consisted of 30 animals and 18 albino rats were kept as control. ,Group 11 consisteexper fment e), animals and 18 albino rats we.re kept as control. The albino rats of expo I were fed on rationcontaining 61.7 gm of Euphorbia prunifolia powder which was equivalent to 1/6 LD50• The powdered plant wasmixed with ’treacle and milk to form boluses, dryed in room temperature, then fed to expirimental rats, whilethe cont r of animals were fed on normal ration consist of treacle and milk only. Five experimented animals and J control were sacrificed one week after feeding the boluses and then weekly up to 6 weeks. In the secondexperiment, fourty two animals were fed on the double dose used in Exp.’ I, i.e. 12).4 gm of powdered plantswhich was treated and offered as in experiment I. and eighteen ~ontrol animals were used and managed as inExperiment. I. Seven experimental animals and three control were sacrificed one week after feeding of the boluses and then weekly up to 6 weeks.
