Abstract:
The specific objectives of this study were done to isolate and identifyE. coli from broilers and their enviromnent. Moreover, assessing theefficiency. of formalin against isolated E. coli was also investigated.Moreover, the resistance of antibacterial drugs among E. coli isolates wascarried out.1-Isolation and Identification of E. coli from broiler and theirenvironment:Many poultry farms located in Sharkia govemorate were investigatedduring the period of March 1996 until May 1997.A total pf 1185 samples were subjected for isolation and identificationof E. coli from the broiler organs 920 samples were collected, while fromthe broiler environment 265 samples were taken from air (120), water (25)and litter (120).1- The percentages of E. coli isolated from broiler organs were higher inspring (38.8%) followed by autumn (35.5%), theii’ winter (26.08%) andfinally summer season (20.5%).2- The highest E. coli percentage was isolated from heart blood (27.17%)followed by lung (15.2%) then gall bladder (12.39%), then liver (10.8%)and lastly from yolk sac (2.60%).3- The highest incidences of isolated E. coli was recorded from aged 5thweek followed by 4th week then 8th week, 6th week, 21lu week, 3rd weekand lastly first week old age with the percentage of 50,40, 33.3,26.3,
