Abstract:
The role of methyl mercuric chloride and mercuric chloridecompounds on kidney function tests and the pathological pictureobtained in nephro-ectomized and appnr-arrt I y normal rabbi ts was in-vestigated.Oral administration of oily methyl mercuric chloride sol-ution was adepted to 12 animals and also to six nephroectomisedrabbits at a dose of 0.4 mg/kg B.wt. twice weekly for 5 weeks.The same application was applied to anotherC12 and six nephroectom-ized rabbits using watery mercuric chloride addition at a doserate of OG 3 mg/ kg B. wt.A control group received corn oil(o.l ml / rabbit) anothergroup ingested distilled water.Blood samples were drawn from the ear veins of treated and non-poisned rabbits 48 hours after two successive administration.Determination of creatinine urea, sodium and potassiumlevels were carried out on the hl.ocd se:.rt,Im.The animals were observed for clinical symptoms duringthe experimental period.The gross lesions of dead animals were examined and recordedafter ij.Xposure to the two preparations. Different organs were pre-pared for histopathological studies by fixstion in 10% formaline,embeded in paraffin, cut at 6 U and stained by H,&E.stain, sudan
