Abstract:
The current work involves cytochemical studies on the 1eukocytes of buffaloes as well as the histochemical(alkalineand acid phosphatases) studies and glycogen in it.The present investigation revealed the following result:1.The mean values of alkaline phosphatase in neutrophil cellswere higher than lymphocytes where it reached to 8.40x 10-7 I.u/cell, 0.18’x 10-7 I.u/cell respectively, but ineosinophils, basophils and monocytes it increased relative- ly to 7.01 x 10-7 I.u/cell.The histochemical studies of alkaline phosphatase in leukocytes showed that the reactivity of this enzymes wasincreased in neutrophils and reached its maximum in case of pregnancy than in suerperium and non-pregnant animals. While eosinophils rarely showed some reaction. All other blood ’cells including lymphocytes and monocytes failed to show any enzyme activityThe average value~ of acid phosphatase enzyme reached the high values in neutrophils where it was 1.46 x 10-7 I.u/cell,w but very low concentration in lymphocytes where it was0.98 x .10-7 I.u/cell, and it was relatively higher in eosinophils, basophils and monocytes where it reached 1.06 x 10-7 I.u / cell.Histochemical studies of acid phosphatase revealed that acidphosphatase positive granules varied from few in neutrophils,
