Pathological Studies on mortalities in young Rabbits

Abstract:
A total of III rabbits were collected from governmental and private farms, out of them, 107 cases were freshly dead and the other 4 rabbits werein advanced moribund condition. The clinical symptoms observed on moribund cases and that recorded by theowners for some of the dead rabbits were diarrhea in 21 case, nervous symptoms in 4 cases, cannibalism in4 cases and snuffles in one case. Four cases were suddenly died without symptoms god 11 case were record-ed as stillbirths. In 66 cases no sym~toms could be recorded.Each rabbit was subjected to PM examination and the internal organs and nasal cavity were bacteriologi-cally examined. Also, smears from the intestine and liver bile passages were examined for detection of coc-cidia oocysts.The post-mortem examination revealed that the com- monest affections were that of the alimentary tract and liverfollowed by thoSe of the respiratory tract. Little affectionswere encountered in the urinary tract and brain. Lesions were not always localized in one system or organ, butwere mostly involvin~ more than one system.
