Abstract:
In the present study it was deciced to investig8te the possible role played by the gonadotrophin bindingproteins (non steroidal serum albumin) in regulating the synthesis, secretion and transport of gonadotro- phins during the estrous cycle in cows and buffaloes.Blood samples were obtained from twenty Friesian cows. The animals were classified into 5 groups of 4- CO\~IS each at 0 time (estrus), 1 day (metestrus), 15 deys(diestrus) and 19-20 days postestrus (proestrus), and smooth inactive ovaries.Samples of blood from buffaloes during proestrus, estrus , metestrus, diestrus, and smooth inactive ovaries, were obtained from Cairo slaughterhouse. In these animals, the ovaries were taken and examined ~todetermine the phase of the cycle according to the size 9f G~aafian follicles and corpus. luteum.Serum albumin was extracted from serum samples by the alcohol method from which steroids were extracted by acetone-ether mixtures.Buffalo~FSH and LH were prepared and rabbits antisera to them were prepared to be used for immunoassay ofbuffalo and cow gonadotr6phins and detection of their
