Abstract:
Samples were collected from 100 apparently healthycarcasses of camels slaughtered at Cairo abattoir to securethe following :1. the most enrichment broth of and selective media used for the isolation ofSalmonellae.2. Incidence of Salmonellae in slaughtered camels •J. Identification of the isolated serotypes.Collected samples from each animal included .-a. Faecal sample from rectum.b. Mesenteric lymph nodes.c. Hepatic tissue (portal area).d. Diaphragmatic muscle.The highest recovery rate from all samples could be obtainedthrough use of selenite F broth followed by seeding on XLDagar plates.- XLD agar produc~significantly better results than SS agar.Occurance of Salmonella carrier rate in slaughtered camelswas 8~ from faeces, 9% from mesenteric lymph nodes, 5% fromhepatic tissue and 4% from diaphragmatic muscle.- 26 Salmonella strains were isolated, (15) S. typhimurium,
